Suuuper late bloomer (autumnale = autumn bloom), hanging with the douglas aster and goldenrood for longevity. The pollinators thank you.
Often grows next to streams and ponds, but does fine in a drier, urban landscape too.
Don't be fooled by its alternate name "sneezeweed': it doesn't make you sneeze. Insect-pollinated, not wind pollinated, therefore not on the seasonal allergy list. (They used to dry the leaves for snuff, which, yeah, will make you sneeze.)
