Nootka rose offers a wild rose option with extraordinarily large, solitary, pink flowers.
The largest (often only) thorns in pairs near leaf stalks. The hips, or fruit, of any wild roses may be eaten and are often used to make jams and jellies. The Nootka has the biggest hips around.
Readily hybridizes with similar cultivars... :/ It does get real big and wiley. Hedge out your neighbors with some pollinator love.
