Open palmed leaves praise the sky, uplifting bountiful brownish-purple flowers.

This is the biggest of the lupine boys - there are a handful of other smaller native lupines.

Full disclosure: sometimes the large leaves get powdery mildew and aphids LOVE this plant - but if you're cool with it - the aphids feed the birds.
