Osoberry Indian Plum : Oemleria cerasiformis

One of the first to leaf out in the spring. Great shrub for wildlife (mason bees) and can reach an excess of 15 feet tall.

Fruiting is highly variable; only the female plants will bear the tiny mango-to-plum like drupes.

Indigenous peoples included osoberry in their diets, making a tea of the bark, and chewing its twigs to elicit a mild anesthetic and aphrodisiac ;)
