Bright green leaves and dramatic lilac & indigo-colored blooms. Camassia quamash grows well in many conditions. Sun access is important for blooming, it doesn’t mind wet feet, bulbs overwinter under the soil. Camas is as closely linked to PNW identity as the salmon. Abundant camas fields once blanketed the region; its tubers a main food staple for first people.
